ACADEMICS
Reading & ELA
Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade use the Storytown Curriculum provided by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (Storytown).
3rd grade – 5th grade use the Journeys Curriculum which is also provided through Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (Journeys).
Our 6th grade through 12th grade use the Collections Reading & English Language Arts provided by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (Collections).

Common Core/Louisiana State Standards
Brighter Horizon School satisfies the requirements for Mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA), in following Louisiana State Standards. While we meet these testing criteria and standards, as a private, specialized learning institution, we are able to exceed and surpass the limiting factors while meeting these protocols.
Louisiana Curriculum Standards
Brighter Horzion School also satisfies the Louisiana Curriculum Standards for Science and Social Studies. While we meet these testing criteria and standards, as a private, specialized learning institution, we are able to deliver specific instruction methods to best cater to our students’ personal learning styles while meeting these protocols.

And our great academic success stems from carrying, instructing, and upholding the standards of Islam. Top to Bottom, we demonstrate Islam, everyday. Teachers, Executive Staff, and everyone in between teaches Islam, lives Islamic principles, and shows students this high standard of excellence.
Brighter Horizon School
Brighter Horizon School follows the curriculum for Islamic Studies from I Love Islam by Noorart. This series gradually introduces Muslim students to the essentials of their faith and bring to light historic and cultural aspects of Islam for students. Each book of the series is designed to emphasize the aspects of Islam which are appropriate for the grade level. The series cover grades Kindergarten through 5th grade and include a student textbook and workbook, as well as a teacher’s edition here.

Arabic
Brighter Horizon School teaches Arabic with the I love Arabic Curriculum. It emphasizes Grammar (nahw), Morphology (sarf), and Eloquence (balagha). Details of the program can be found here.
